Democratic Party MP Albana Vokshi stated in Parliament that opposition representatives failed to hold meetings with the Council of Europe delegation during their visit to Tirana.
She said that opposition members in the delegation did not receive notice of meetings with international representatives and considered the situation problematic for institutional relations.
Following these allegations, the chairman of the session, Niko Peleshi, reacted. He rejected the statements and clarified that all members of the delegation, including the opposition, had the opportunity to participate in the meetings.
According to him, the Assembly had sent official notifications via email and had requested the participation of substitute members. He emphasized that participation was dependent on the will of the deputies.
Debate:
Vokshi: What happened today is a scandalous situation in the relationship between the Albanian Parliament and the internationals. Today, representatives of the Council of Europe were in Tirana and the opposition was prevented from meeting with the CoE reporters. The opposition members in this delegation were not notified to meet with the members of the international delegation.
Peleshi: These are untrue. Don't stir up a storm in a glass. You were welcome, please be accurate. All members were allowed, substitutes were also asked to participate. Everyone was invited by official e-mail and participation was voluntary.
