Young people have left Albania en masse over the last 12 years; They are leaving… and they are not alone…
Good professionals are leaving, the middle class, the core of society, which reflects and decides on the future of the country, is increasingly shrinking, when the time comes to make choices about those who will be able to lead the country, without political influences, those who can truly affect change.
Our young people are leaving, students are leaving as soon as they get their diplomas, young couples are leaving who see no future. Albania is being emptied of the energy, hope, and life that gives meaning to the future.
The decline in fertility is a direct consequence of insecurity, lack of support, and lack of belief that a life with dignity can be built here. It is becoming increasingly difficult for a young couple to think about a home, a stable job, or a system that supports them when they bring a child into the world.
But this is not an inevitable disaster — it is a call for change.
We need to create an Albania where young people feel valued, where talent is rewarded, not underestimated. Where a graduate student has a reason to stay because they have opportunities, they have prospects.
An Albania where young couples feel supported to build a family, to give birth to and raise their children with pride.
A place where you don't leave to escape, but stay to live.
