Mayor Erion Veliaj's defense attorney, Plarent Ndreca, after the closing of the hearing, stated that pressure is being exerted to have this matter resolved quickly.
Ndreca stated that the deputy chairwoman of the High Prosecutorial Council has expressed herself in violation of the law, as according to him, the KLP has never met to come up with a collegial decision regarding this issue. The lawyer accused that there is an institutional alignment with which they want to protect prosecutor Dadon at all costs.
" What I warned about, I believe, has come to light, that there is increased pressure in this matter. The speed with which the procedural stages are being attempted to be bypassed and our requests are being ignored, with the legitimization of the representative of the KLP who does not have a decision, is worrying. We have found that there is a letter without the authorization of the High Council, which the court should not have ignored. We requested that the cameras be online, but we were refused based on an instruction from the KLP. This whole picture increases our suspicion that we are in a situation where there is institutional pressure and an attempt is being made to avoid the merits of the case, as well as the fact of whether prosecutor Dado has legal authorization to exercise authority or not. It had to do with the title of representation, whether the representative had it or not. It is the High Council that makes decisions, especially regarding the status of prosecutors. Because there is no decision-making, the representative could not have the title of a body that did not have it. exercised constitutional right.
We have addressed the Supreme Council to make a decision. Until the last session, we were in good faith that the KLP had made a decision and we had no reason to suspect that the document was not from the KLP. The KLP has never met on this issue. I asked the representative to give us the decision, but it does not exist. The chairman has expressed himself illegally. It seems as if there is an institutional harmonization and they want to protect Dado at all costs. The KLP is the body most interested in the truth. The KLP should have joined us in the lawsuit to verify whether Dado exercises authority based on the Constitution. What is being said in court is the fact that they have harmonization for the protection they provide to Dado , "said Ndreca.
