A few days before the first match of the Albanian national team against Italy in Euro2024, more than the Albanian fans, those who will enjoy it the most seem to be the deputies of the Parliament of Albania.
The plenary session this week will not take place on Thursday like every week, but one day earlier, as many deputies will leave for Germany to follow Albania in the European Championship.
Some of them will travel by car, as they will follow Albania in the three matches in the group stage, in addition to the opening match with Italy, also those with Spain and Croatia. For this reason, there will be no plenary session in the parliament next week either.
A good part of them will travel to Germany on Thursday and therefore the Assembly has thought of giving them a gift: the session scheduled for Thursday has been postponed to Wednesday (tomorrow), while those who want to stay longer to watch the second match with Croatia, have learned that there will be no plenary session next week either.
When asked about the media, they stated that they will travel by car to Germany, to have more opportunities to move from the 15th after the match in Dortmund, until June 19 when the match against Croatia will take place in Hamburg.
And for this reason, since the road by car takes about 24 hours, with some stops at night, the Assembly has moved the session to Wednesday, so that on Saturday, all the deputies who have bought tickets will be at the stadium.
In this way, these 10 days of tourism in Germany can be considered a small break for the MPs before they return at the end of June, work until the end of July and then take their summer vacation until the beginning of September.
So today the Assembly of Albania will meet in plenary session. On the agenda, according to the document published on the official website of the Assembly, there is also a law that provides for an increase in the salary of judges of the Constitutional Court.
The plenary session is expected to start at 10:00, while there are three items on the agenda. First, the activity report of the Civil Service Oversight Commissioner will be discussed. Next are two bills.
Initially, according to the agenda, the law "On the accession of the Republic of Albania to the protocol for the amendment of Article 50(a) of the Convention on International Civil Aviation, as well as to the protocol for the amendment of Article 56 of the Convention on International Civil Aviation will be discussed ". And at the end it will be discussed about the law "On some additions and changes to the law no. 8577, dated 10.2.2000, "On the organization and functioning of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Albania", as amended.
In Article 17 of the law on the Constitutional Court, it is proposed that the article which provided that the salary of the judge of the Constitutional Court was equal to the salary of the President of the Supreme Court, is changed and the salary now becomes 96% of the president's salary, plus 58% allowance due to the special nature of the work. So the salary of the member of the Constitutional Court becomes 644 thousand new ALL. While the head of the Court has an additional 20% due to his position and his salary reaches 773 thousand new ALL.
