The Assembly decided to remove Berisha's immunity after a chaotic session. 75 votes in favor came out of the hall.
The SP itself has 73 votes, while the other two votes belonged to Tom Doshi's PSD deputies.
The two PSD MPs Gertjan Deda and Gledis Çeliku joined the votes with the socialists to remove Berisha's immunity.
Former Prime Minister Sali Berisha will face justice without the MP's immunity. In less than 8 minutes, without any surprise, with 75 votes of the majority, the Assembly approved the removal of the former prime minister's immunity, paving the way for his arrest on charges of passive corruption.
As the regulations stipulated, the Speaker of the Assembly, Lindita Nikolla, gave the floor to Sali Berisha, but the latter refused. He requested that the Republic Guard be removed from the pulpit, but such a request was not taken into account, and as a result the former prime minister chose to remain silent.
Neither the protest outside the parliament nor the chaos in the plenary session, a scenario seen in the past by the opposition, with stacks of chairs in the pulpit and blue flakadas, did not stop the majority from using the power of the card to remove the immunity of the leader of the opposition. What was noticed was the absence of Lulzim Basha and his supporters.
