In a statement published on the social network X, the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Elisa Spiropali, confirmed Albania's full support for the United States' military actions against the Maduro regime in Venezuela.
" Albania stands unequivocally alongside the United States and the US President in their decisive actions against the narco-terrorist regime of Venezuela ," writes Spiropali, at a time when Prime Minister Rama himself continues to have no official position on this major international development.
The Minister emphasized support for US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, praising his “strong leadership in confronting authoritarianism, corruption and transnational criminal networks.” She also underlined that Albania, as a staunch US ally and NATO member, is committed to protecting democratic principles and global security.
“ We support Secretary of State Rubio’s strong leadership in confronting authoritarianism, corruption, and transnational criminal networks. The Venezuelan people have an undeniable right to freedom, democracy, and the rule of law, and the international community must not remain silent in the face of oppression and fear. As a staunch US ally and NATO member, Albania stands shoulder to shoulder with American leadership in defense of democratic principles and global security ,” Spiropali writes.
This reaction comes at a time when Albanian public opinion is seeking clarity from the country's leadership, while Edi Rama himself has not expressed any position on the operation that led to the overthrow and arrest of Nicolas Maduro.
