The government has approved the new regulation for the use of public spaces, a decision that aims to standardize practices across all municipalities and guarantee the balance between public interest and business activity.
After the Council of Ministers meeting, the Minister of State for Local Government, Ervin Demo, emphasized that this regulation brings a unified approach to the administration of public spaces.
"We have just approved the regulation for the approval of public spaces. When we talk about the right that citizens have to use these spaces, guaranteeing opportunities in terms of development for entities. The regulation will bring innovation in terms of unification of practices. Municipalities are now on the same footing in terms of the regulatory system. Municipalities have been part of the process," said Demo.
The Minister also announced that several other municipalities have joined the "Mountain Package" project, increasing interest in territorial development.
"4 new municipalities that have been approved, Saranda, Kuçovë, Gramsh, Tropojë. We can say that the number of applications in the territory is even greater, it has exceeded 500 applications. Other municipalities are in the final processes," said Demo.
Regarding territorial reform, he emphasized that the process is still in the discussion phase and there is no final agreed model.
"During the parliamentary group meeting, different models were discussed, there is no position from the SP and even more so within the committee. We must move forward with the process. It is normal that we are all analyzing different models. We refer more to the specifics of Albania and the challenges. There is no position," the minister said.
Meanwhile, Demo emphasized that the new regulation establishes a clear principle for the use of public spaces, placing citizens at the forefront.
"The solution is clear, citizens have priority. Not every entity will have the opportunity to exercise the activity. What the regulation does is set some parameters for the preservation of public spaces and their use. The regulation also includes elements related to aesthetics ," said the minister.
