DP demands dismissal, Peleshi calls for a meeting of the heads of the

The Speaker of the Assembly, Niko Peleshi, has called another meeting of the heads of the Parliamentary Groups, which is expected to be held on Monday. This is the third meeting that Peleshi has called with the leaders of the groups, perhaps in an attempt to pave the way for the constitution of the conference of chairmen, which is composed mainly of the heads of the parliamentary committees.

With the approval of the new regulation, 11 permanent committees operate in the Albanian Parliament, 4 of which are led by the opposition. But the latter has not yet submitted to the Assembly the names that will lead these committees, even though 4 leaders were approved in a meeting of the Parliamentary Group. And likewise, the opposition has also determined 7 names that will hold the positions of vice-chairmen in the Parliamentary Committees that are led by the socialists.

But the opposition has also adopted a political stance: it demands the dismissal of Niko Peleshi as Speaker of the Assembly, accusing him of violating the Rules of Procedure and the Constitution. The tone became harsher after the last session, which lasted only 25 minutes, and without debate, the composition of the government cabinet and the government program were approved, an unprecedented case in the 35 years of Albanian pluralism.

Tensions in the hall peaked when Edi Rama, perhaps with a pre-prepared scenario, gave the floor to Minister 'Diella', an action that angered the opposition, and its MPs threw brochures of the Assembly's Rules of Procedure in the direction of the seats where the Prime Minister and ministers were standing.

This was followed by a request from SP MPs to take disciplinary measures against opposition colleagues, who according to them blocked the normal course of the session. And one of the names that has been punished by being banned from participating in the proceedings of the Assembly is the head of the Democratic Parliamentary Group, Gazment Bardhi.

Perhaps Peleshi, with the meeting called with the heads of the Parliamentary Groups, will aim to reduce tensions, while the opposition has one of its demands, the repetition of Thursday's session, the day when the Government and its program were approved, but also the dismissal of the Speaker of Parliament, elected on September 11.
