Former United States Ambassador to Tirana, Yuri Kim, has finally ended her diplomatic career after nearly three decades in the American foreign service. The State Department organized a farewell ceremony yesterday, where diplomats, friends and family paid her final respects for her contribution to American diplomacy.
Kim's reaction came later today on Instagram: " With gratitude for the opportunity to serve my country as a diplomat, I will officially retire from the Department of State next week. Yesterday, my family, friends, and I celebrated this moment together. I am proud to have served for 29 years under five Presidents and ten Secretaries of State. I conclude this service with a heart full of hope for the next generation of American public servants. God bless America ."
Yuri Kim is one of the best-known diplomats to the Albanian public, having served as the US Ambassador to Tirana during a crucial period for judicial reform and democratic processes in the country. After leaving Albania, she was appointed Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs, where she closely followed developments in the Balkans and relations with Turkey.
