The newly elected Democratic Party MP, Belind Këlliçi, has declared that the opposition is determined not to repeat the mistakes of the past and that all attention will be focused on denouncing what he calls the "electoral farce" of May 11.
Invited to an interview with News24, Këlliçi emphasized that unlike 2021, this time the Democratic Party will follow a more unified and cautious approach, awaiting the final OSCE/ODIHR report on the local elections before making decisions on the calendar of protests or other political actions.
"We will not repeat the mistake that the DP made in 2021 in 2025. Any possible reorganization will be decided by the highest forums of the party, not individually ," said Këlliçi.
The Democratic MP emphasized that in preparation for the start of the new parliamentary session, the opposition will focus on publicly denouncing electoral irregularities, while together with Sali Berisha and other DP leaders, they will also await international reactions.
"Until the publication of the OSCE/ODIHR report, we will focus on documenting and denouncing the electoral farce. We do not have a protest calendar at the moment. Decisions will be discussed after the submission of the final report," he added.
Kelliçi underlined that the opposition is also awaiting an official position from the US Department of State regarding the electoral process in Albania, leaving open the possibility of other political steps depending on international developments.
