US Ambassador Yuri Kim today visited the premises of the Prime Minister's Office.
Her visit coincides with the completion of her diplomatic mission in Albania.
At the end of her diplomatic mandate in Tirana, Yuri Kim also took stock of her three and a half years at the head of the American embassy.
Just like in January 2020 when he arrived in Albania, the focus continues to be on the reform in Justice.
According to her, Albania must eradicate corruption in order to move forward.
"I want to make it clear that during their mandate in Albania, ambassadors do not follow personal agendas. And to your question if there is anything that needs to be improved, absolutely yes! Also, it is important to follow with dedication the reforms, as was the reform in justice, as is the eradication of corruption."
The American diplomat sees exactly corruption as a problem in the country's impoverishment, not sparing negative tones towards those who have to do justice in this country.
"The issue of justice reform and the eradication of corruption is not simply a moral issue, but a national and prosperity issue. The United States wants Albania to become a rich country. Courts and prosecutors must be independent, they must be persons of integrity. And this is the reason that for the USA and the EU they push forward in the Reform of Justice," said Kim.
Yuri Kim's mandate in Albania was also accompanied by political clashes and strong public accusations against her, especially by non grata Sali Berisha.
