The Head of State will hold a meeting with the two main parties SP-PD, where they will consult on setting the date of the elections.
The President of the Republic, Bajram Begaj, will start the consultations on Thursday to set the date of the parliamentary elections, which are expected to be held next year.
First, President Begaj will meet tomorrow with the head of the PR, Fatmir Mediu, the head of PBDNJ Vangjel Dule, the head of PDIU Shpëtim Idrizi and the head of LZHK Dashamir Shehit. Meanwhile, on Thursday, he will meet with PL leaders.
Then on November 25, the Head of State will hold a meeting with the two main parties SP-PD, where they will consult on setting the date of the elections.
Earlier it was reported that the parliamentary elections could be held between the first two Sundays of May, May 4 or 11. However, these are mere assumptions, since determining the date of the elections is the competence of the President of the Republic, who, after consultations with the main political actors in the country, also decrees the date of the elections.
From previous practices, the date of the elections was set with the agreement of the parties, where the President consults on two possible dates, which are presented to the representatives of the political parties.
Generally, parliamentary elections in Albania are held in the months of May-June, with the exception of the first two pluralist elections that were held on March 31, 1991 and March 22, 1992, and one case in 2005, when the process took place on July 3.
