President Bajram Begaj has reacted after the approval in the Assembly of the resolution on the European integration process, describing it as the right approach for Albania's advancement towards the European Union.
The head of state said that the document constitutes the institutional response to the European Commission's Progress Report for 2025 and the report of the Committee on Foreign Affairs in the European Parliament.
Begaj praised the fact that the resolution was adopted through cooperation between political parties, emphasizing that compromise and consensus remain the only way to advance the strategic objective of EU membership.
According to the president, the vote in the Assembly represents a serious and responsible approach to reforms related to the democratic, institutional, economic and social transformation of the country.
He also welcomed the parliamentary cooperation that led to the adoption of the resolution by 114 votes.
"The resolution of the Albanian Parliament on the EU accession process is the appropriate response to the European Commission's Progress Report on Albania 2025 and to the Report of the European Parliament's Committee on Foreign Affairs.
This resolution marks the only right approach: the approach of cooperation, compromise and consensus to achieve this national strategic objective.
It is irrefutable evidence of a serious and responsible policy, fully focused on the country's reform agenda for democratic, institutional, economic and social transformation.
"I salute this precious act of parliamentary cooperation," the president wrote on social media.
