Former MP Ervin Salianji inspected the Dragostunja area near the damaged bridge on the Elbasan-Korça axis and reacted to the traffic jam that has isolated the southeast for two days.
In a video posted on social media, Salianji stated that the damage to the bridge was not caused by natural factors, but by encroachments on the riverbed for private interests. He argued that these actions had damaged the foundation of the structure and accelerated its degradation.
According to him, the situation is a direct consequence of corruption and the way infrastructure is managed. Salianji stressed that the damage to national axes is proof of institutional failure and demanded responsibility for the safety of citizens.
"Corruption and greed have turned the movement of citizens on all Elbasan-Korça axes into torture. Today I was in Dragostunjë. Where the greed for endless profit has caused the riverbed to be "bitten", undermining the foundations, crushing the supporting concrete and leading to the destruction of a vital bridge for the area.
This is not a natural disaster. It is a direct consequence of a governance model where the destruction of rivers for private gain is allowed, while citizens are left without security, without infrastructure and without accountability. Every damaged meter is proof of corruption.
Every endangered bridge is evidence of failure. Albania does not need propaganda. It needs responsibility. Albanians need security! ", writes Salianji.
