The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, stated in a video message that during his visit to Washington, Edi Rama was denied all official meetings, except for a meeting with an NGO behind closed doors. According to Berisha, Rama has not taken any diplomatic steps to support the former KLA leaders facing trials in The Hague, which he linked to the influence of Aleksandar Vučić.
Berisha also accused Rama of using UNESCO as a pretext for projects in Durrës that harm legitimate owners, and warned of a possible agreement that includes lifting Belinda Balluku's immunity in exchange for SPAK not touching Linda Rama, describing this as a threat to justice in the country.
The reaction of the democratic leader comes after statements by Prime Minister Edi Rama on his podcast 'Flasim', where, among other things, he also touched on participating in the first meeting of the 'Peace Board'.
"Regarding Edi Rama's usual Sunday shenanigans, first, I will ask him a question: how is it possible that all the meetings in Washington were rejected? All of them, without exception, except for one NGO, and that one behind closed doors."
You have to be transparent to Albanians. It was not a private trip, but he was a representative of Albania, in a prestigious forum, such as the Peace Board.
So, what is the reason that you were refused every meeting you requested, either during your stay there or beforehand?

I want to guarantee every Albanian that megaphone diplomacy does not serve to solve problems, especially when it is used by a country like Albania.
The megaphone diplomacy, for the great drama that is being played out in The Hague against the former political leaders of the Liberation War and Kosovo, is, in my opinion, not at all useful. It produced the opposite effects in Strasbourg, but I must emphasize in this case that Edi Rama has not taken a single step with conventional diplomacy to help the KLA fighters, the leaders of the war, who are today with fabricated accusations from alpha to omega in the offices of his brother, his boss, Vučić.
That's why he never mentions it, but calls us prosecutors idiots, and so on.
Now, he talked about the networking and the park he will build in Durres, destroying dozens and dozens of legitimate owners in the city of Durres. Big fraud! He presented UNESCO as a pretext for this vandalism.
But don't forget citizens, that this one in Manastir. In the heart of the UNESCO International Park, he gave a building permit for his Damian and himself. It has nothing to do with UNESCO. It has to do with drug barons who want to invest their towers where houses will be demolished.
