The Socialist Party takes a step back, withdraws from changes in the Territorial

The Socialist Party has withdrawn from the proposed changes to the Territorial Reform Commission. The SP sought to change the representation formula on the commission.

They demanded 17 members in the Territorial Reform Commission, 9 from the SP and 8 from the opposition, instead of the equal division currently implemented. The SP also demanded a change in direction. The Socialists demanded that the Commission have a chairman from the majority and a vice-chairman from the opposition, instead of two co-chairmen.

The Socialists argued that the changes ensure continuity of work, following the opposition's absences from the Commission's meetings. However, despite this, at the end of today's plenary session, the majority withdrew its proposal, after the Democratic Party stated that it did not participate due to other commitments and not to boycott.

After this, the Head of the Socialist Party Parliamentary Group, Taulant Balla, requested the removal of the changes to the Territorial Reform Commission from the agenda.

"I request a change in the agenda to not consider the draft decision on the changes and establishment of the Territorial Commission in this session, I believe there is agreement from all parties and with the hope that work will resume in the Commission ," said Balla.

Also, the agenda was finally voted on. All draft laws passed with majority votes.
