The Socialist Party has extended its hand of cooperation to the opposition. Until yesterday, Rama seemed determined not to negotiate, but something has changed after the call of the internationals.
Socialist MP Toni Gogu is optimistic about the resolution approved in Brussels on Monday.
As co-chairman of the EU-Albania Association Stabilization Parliamentary Committee, Gogu says that the meetings were fruitful and that Albania's progress in the Screening process was highly appreciated.
"We had a fruitful meeting, I would say, as long as we were able to issue recommendations together with the European parliamentarians. This means that the meeting has reached its goal. We saw Albania's progress from July as the last meeting was in July. In the recommendations, Albania's progress is recognized and evaluated, whether it is in terms of the Screening process and Albania's being part of the EU's foreign policy", said Gogu.
Regarding the willingness to cooperate with the opposition, expressed in Brussels by Pandeli Majko, the socialist Gogu said that the majority has always believed in compromise and dialogue.
"Mr. Majko, I confirm that position that we have held for a long time. We are here because we believe that compromise and political dialogue helps Albania, helps the parliament, helps the institutions. We are ready to offer those things that need to be done, whether it is the changes in the electoral code, there are a number of tasks left by the constitutional court, so these are things that we are ready to go through together with the opposition MPs. Absolutely no bargain. Things that definitely affect the lives of Albanians", said Gogu in the interview given to "Top Channel".
