Recent developments in the DP show that Berisha cannot stand the idea that someone could rival him, even temporarily, while he and his rival are considered "candidates"...
The main attention in recent days, as far as political developments are concerned, has been focused on what is happening in the Democratic Party with what was supposed to be an electoral race for the leader of this force. The only one who has remained as an option for election is Sali Berisha, while the one who could have been his main rival, Ervin Salianji, was not even allowed to enter the race, with the claim of self-exclusion. More or less a similar situation was experienced by the DP in 1999, when Genc Pollo, one of Berisha's most loyal supporters at the time, attempted to run for the leader of the DP, but was not only attacked in the media and politically, but was also violently removed from the race, declaring him the next enemy, adding to the previous hostile groups.
For anyone who knows how parties are organized and function in Albania, the position of chairman is almost untouchable if he does not want to leave. With this logic, no one would "threat" or endanger the chair of number "1" of any party, even if there were a competition, to some extent with rules of the game. The point is that competitions in Albanian political parties have died out, perhaps they did not even exist, with the exception of sporadic cases that in one way or another, have been deformed again.
Edi Rama has not held elections in the Socialist Party since 2005, when he took control of the party and began to purge and remove socialist figures, who, regardless of what they represented and the academic degrees they had, entered early political retirement. For 21 years, Rama dictated every decision in the Socialist Party, so much so that today it is difficult to even know the names of the members of the Presidency of this party, a forum that once debated, had clashes, clans and produced political war.
Sali Berisha has dictated every development in the DP, regardless of whether or not he has been sitting in the Chair of the Party. Only 4-5 months in 36 years can be periods when Berisha did not dictate decision-making and this coincides precisely with the last months of 2021, when Lulzim Basha expelled him from the Parliamentary Group, but also from the party, despite not having the strength to face the former Prime Minister's revenge.
Then the question that arises is why neither Berisha nor Rama allow competitions in their parties, why do they limit the spaces and have they reached the point that even when there are candidates who believe they can challenge them, they are not allowed to try their luck to the end?
Recent developments in the DP show that Berisha seems to be unable to bear the idea that someone could rival him, even temporarily, while he and his rival are considered “candidates”. In these conditions, it is easier for him to delete from the list any name that could “mislead” and have the idea that he could rival him. The same thing happens in the ranks of the SP, where Rama displays another method: he considers electoral victories not as those of the force he leads, but as personal, and in such conditions he has even deleted the idea that elections can be held.
If we refer to developments in 30 years, the only race, although it had behind-the-scenes alliances that raised doubts, was the one between the late Fatos Nano and Pandeli Majko in 1999 for the post of leader of the Socialist Party. A race that was divided by a small margin, not to say a handful of votes, while it was the "betrayals" that determined the winner.
The Democrats' only chance to hold a race that could later change a lot in the DP was in 2013, after Berisha withdrew and the candidacy of the late Sokol Olldashi and Lulzim Basha. But at that time, the idea that a real race could be held lasted only a few weeks, as the balance was set with the energetic interventions of Berisha and his gang, including the "ready" group of directors who, after leaving their chairs in institutions, defined Basha as the successor to the "spiritual father" in the DP.
The same thing was repeated in 2017 or 2021, while in 2026, the competition, even formally, died out before it even started. After all, there are no competitions in military garrisons, they are run based on strict rules, while the "commander" distributes positions and ranks based on "loyalty."
Not in vain, a few years ago, Berisha liked to be called "marshal", while Rama is pleased when he is called Skanderbeg. Both lead political departments with military regulations, one as the head of a garrison that is heading towards debauchery and the other of a garrison where names have turned into numbers. /Pamphlet/
Analiza qe nuk ndryshojne asgje! Njerzit tashme e dine se cfare po i bejne vendit dhe popullit keta te dy! Media e blere prej tyre, hesht. Te tjere bejne analiza akademike , qe nuk i sherbejne askujt, sepse ata do vazhdojne te bashkepunojne nen rrogoz, do vazhdojne te mbajne pushtetin me menyra anormale dhe trajtojne opoziten si placke tregu per interesat e Berishes.
