Sali Berisha, the leader of the Democratic Party, who is running alone for the position of Chief Democrat, stated that Mereme Sela's candidacy did not meet the criteria.
During the meeting with the Democrats in Dibër, Berisha, speaking about the candidacy of doctor Merema Sela, said that she did not meet the criteria and could turn the race into a farce.
In this context, the democratic leader recalled that Sela was involved in a race in the Durrës branch where he only received 43 votes.
"They say that the DP does not hold elections, the DP is holding elections and holding elections of the highest class, one member, one vote. Elections with one candidate? Yes, the truth is that 90% and more of those who hold elections with one member, one vote are with one candidate, because those who have weight and are not sure of victory, do not accept to enter, but to enter the race you will have to meet certain criteria, otherwise the race becomes ridiculous.
"We are taking the case of Merem, because the others are not in the DP at all... Merem is in the DP, he ran a race and received 43 votes, bravo to him for running in the Durrës district. For Merem to run to lead you and the Democrats, there must be some other evidence because it is a ridiculous race and such a race does not honor you," said Berisha.
Mereme Sela has warned that she will take her disqualification to court, while also warning that she will contact embassies to inform them of this distorted process.
