The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, has harshened his tone towards Ervin Salianj and Lulzim Basha, describing them as "traitors" and accusing them of actions that, according to him, have harmed the opposition.
During a meeting with the Democrats in Dibër, Berisha initially focused on the case of Salijanj, who he said had self-excluded himself from the Democratic Party due to his stances and actions.
"I went to prison, without question. I also told other friends to go and meet him. I have an iron rule that I never break. I never start from distrust and prejudice. I start from faith."
I tell him we will co-opt you to the Presidency. He tells me there should be no elections in the party because in times of dictatorship the opposition does not hold elections. No, I tell him we will hold elections. He came regularly to the elections, he did not propose anything special.
Meanwhile, verified information… this one in prison had lunch with Pëllumb Gjoka and Oltion Bistri. This one was in the opposition, they were government cronies. This is 100% true from people who were involved in organizing their lunches. Then during the summer, this one went to Qerret to Ergys Agasi, the man I attacked the most.
As we know, we maintained total silence until the OSCE/ODIHR report came out, because Rama was doing everything to change it. The report came out, I immediately gathered the Presidency and said now on the attack. He was there too and he said yes. I called him and asked him what actions we should take, he didn't tell me.
He left and when he comes out he calls the most voted, they go… very well. When they went there they saw that there was no one to go to. The meetings started, I told him 'these are not from the party'. I told him that they are people who worked against him in the campaign. Then I told him you have excluded yourself from the DP, our battle with the SP is life or death. He came on a mission in which he failed", Berisha told Salianji.
Berisha also made accusations against former DP leader Lulzim Basha, who he said had the intention of collaborating with Prime Minister Edi Rama.
"There were the criminal files with which Rama grabbed Lulzim Basha by the throat. With the Toyota Jaris file, a very irresponsible act of his because it was a police operation in progress and you can't debunk it. The second file was Muzin's file. He didn't denounce Rama, he wanted to form a coalition with Rama. Those who trample on the opposition and democracy are not needed by anyone, they are slaves, they are not free people," declared the leader of the DP.
Berisha emphasized that such actions, according to him, have harmed the opposition and democratic processes in the country.
