The trial against Fatmir Mediu took another course today. The court decided to remove the abbreviated trial at the request of the former minister himself, while the head of PR has asked nearly 90 people as witnesses. The list includes former ministers of Berisha, representatives of the majority, as well as managers of the company that dealt with the dismantling of ammunition. But what stands out is that Mediu called everyone who had contact with Gërdec, except for one person, Shkëlzen Berisha.

It is about several letters exchanged between the US embassy and the State Department, which show a lot about what really happened in Gërdec.
The leaked phone records reveal that only a few hours after March 15, 2008, when the explosion happened in Gërdec, the Minister of Defense, Mediu, called Berisha's son four times. Furthermore, Mihal Delijorgji, owner of Albademil (the company that worked in Gërdec) called Shkëlzen just 30 minutes after the explosion. From January to the day of the explosion, Delijorgji called Shkëlzen 56 times. In addition, notes from the secretaries of the Ministry of Defense were confiscated, which show that during 2007 and 2008 former/minister Mediu had frequent meetings with Shkëlzen. In a meeting, it is said that Shkëlzeni requested that Mediu increase the rate of supply of ammunition to Gërdec" , it was said in Kabllogram.
In another cable, Aldo Bumçi sinks. The media has called the latter as a witness and it remains to be seen if the court will ask him about the connections with Shkëlzen.
In a testimony , the secretary of the Minister of Justice, Aldo Bumçi, told about at least two meetings between Bumçi and Shkëlzen in 2007. And when she was asked about a letter that Bumçi sent to Mediu for the approval of the draft law that would pave the way for the demolitions in Gërdec, she confirmed that Bumçi had written on the cover "For Shkëlzen Berisha". After this testimony, Bumçi, still an MP, accused his former secretary of defamation and sued her. Frightened, the secretary publicly declared that the testimony had been falsified ," the US embassy cable says.
So if Fatmiri thinks he is innocent, he should go out and tell the court what he had to do with Shkëlzen. In some studios he has accepted conversations with him and let's see what the prosecution will do with the court. Will the court demand Zeni's testimony and will SPAK demand the US cables? Or is it a strategy of Mediu to sink Shkëlzeni through witnesses. There are many names associated with him and maybe Mediu will hit him indirectly.
