'Rama treats the Parliament like a notary', Blushi: Opposition against

Tedi Blushi, head of the Freedom Party Parliamentary Group, considers the position of Prime Minister Edi Rama's majority to urgently change the Parliament's rules of procedure as a move that contradicts the Parliament's Rules of Procedure and the Constitution.

After the meeting called by the Speaker of Parliament Niko Peleshi with the leaders of the Parliamentary Groups, Blushi said that the Assembly should be given at least 1 week to familiarize itself with the changes to the Rules of Procedure, which are proposed by the majority. Blushi said that a draft regarding the proposed changes was requested at the meeting, but it was not made available to us.

Blushi said that Edi Rama is treating the Assembly as a notary of the ideas he has.

"We demanded that the Rules of Procedure and the Constitution be formally respected, but we found ourselves faced with the determination of the new Speaker of Parliament, the Speaker of the Renaissance Parliamentary Group, who are determined to violate the Constitution with both feet by passing amendments to the Rules of Procedure in tomorrow's session, where the Rules clearly provide that amending the Rules requires a specified deadline of at least 2 weeks. And in an accelerated procedure, at least a 1-week deadline must be respected.

We are seeking consensus based on what the regulation provides.

"What we object to is that Edi Rama wants to treat the Assembly as a notary of his illegal decisions," Blushi said.
