Prime Minister Edi Rama, in an interview with the Greek media, Kathimerini defended his minister Olta Xhaçka, where he said that it is not true that her husband has benefited from public property illegally in Himara.
Greek journalist: There are stories about members of the government supporting special interests in Himara. One of them, the story of Artan Gaçi, the husband of Olta Xhaçka, Minister of Foreign Affairs, who is the owner of AGTCC Hotel Management and that this company is a strategic investor in Himare. There was even a big conversation in the Albanian parliament and the Supreme Court. How do you comment on that?"
Rama: Listen, if the debates in the parliament were proof, then you wouldn't have to talk to me but inform the police where I am. Every hotel on every Albanian beach has an operating permit. The permit granted to this investor was among thousands of others granted from the Adriatic North to the South. The question was not addressed by the owners who allegedly stole them. On the contrary, the owners there made a deal like anywhere else. When the owners are not satisfied, they do not make agreements or speak openly about injustices. My question is simple. What do the responders want? Do they want the people living in Himara to develop the land or live like Robinson Crusoe? People use the land according to the plan and are paid well, they get a lot of money. We want to develop Himara,
We remind you that Prime Minister Rama has been protecting Xhaçka for over a year, as he has blocked the removal of the mandate of the MP. A group of democratic deputies, headed by Gazment Bardhi, have requested the Constitutional Court to remove Xhaçka's mandate. She is accused of having a conflict of interest through her husband as a strategic investor, which the minister has denied several times.
