Prime Minister and Socialist Party leader Edi Rama officially closed the SP's electoral campaign for the May 11 elections with a rally in Tirana's Olympic Park, where in addition to political promises and messages, there was no shortage of ironies directed at the opposition and its international strategist.
Rama addressed his supporters with a long speech and harsh tones against the Democratic Party, mocking the leader of the DP, Sali Berisha, and its American campaign strategist, Chris LaCivita. He described LaCivita as “Latifi” and Berisha as “the owl with the Donald Trump hat.”
" Instead of my friend in beige summer pants, there was the owl with Donald Trump's hat, hunched and wrinkled like that witch with Latifi," Rama said, referring with disdain to the representatives of the DP campaign. "The only one who has benefited is Latifi himself, who will leave richer than he came, in that pile of waste where he is the only 'wheel of same', as Kosovars say ," he added.
Rama expressed his confidence in the Socialists' victory in Sunday's elections, while also predicting the opposition's reaction: "Bufi will thank you for the victory, but on Monday the complaints about vote theft will begin," Rama said.
The Prime Minister closed his speech amidst the enthusiasm of his supporters, declaring that "the campaign is over, now is the time for the sovereign - the people", inviting citizens to vote for the SP to continue "the climb towards Europe".
