Prime Minister and Socialist Party leader Edi Rama has announced a meeting with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz from Durrës.
Rama stated that in a few days he will share more details from the meeting he will hold with the German Chancellor, linking this to Albania's new image in the international arena.
"How can one compare Albania armed in the madness of blindness caused by the greatest deception in the history of Europe with the subsequent Albania, which could not have been without 1001 holes, but was an Albania that re-engaged with the future and worked to restore order to the land that until that moment had opened up and become an abyss.
These relations of the SP with the past, with the Albanian interest, with the world itself, are essential relations that are written in the DNA and we must take care to remain attentive. Those who speak about us have no idea what they are talking about, those who prepare to face us have no idea either. The SP is an ocean that raises the wave higher and higher every time, because the SP is aware of the challenge it has and of the mountain it must climb. This challenge and this mountain to climb cannot be delegated by anyone. The SP will make Albania Europe.
"In a few days, I will bring you detailed information from the meeting I will have with the German Chancellor as a greeting. Today, we represent Albania with the strength of transformation and a transformed image," said Rama.
Rama also attacked the opposition, recalling the war period in Kosovo. He said that the Socialist Party was an early supporter of the KLA mission, while accusing political opponents of supplying oil to Slobodan Milosevic's regime.
"The most blatant example of this fact is that those who cursed the SP from the beginning as a Belgrade party were the ones who made money selling oil to Milosevic's ethnic cleansing machine, while the SP was the one who from the beginning supported the KLA mission.
Whether they like it or not, the SP is the party they can be proud of today because it is the party that has raised the heads of Albanians all over the world. For us, respect is a matter of reciprocity.
"We are a small country, and not a very rich country, we view them with respect and expect only respect from them," said the socialist leader.
