The head of the DP Parliamentary Group, Gazment Bardhi, clashed with Speaker Lindita Nikolla during the meeting of the Conference of Speakers, after Prime Minister Edi Rama refused the urgent interpellation requested by him.
Bardhi said that the prime minister has no legal and constitutional authority to decide the reasons and topics of the call for interpellation, just as he has no authority to refuse.
" The constitution and regulations oblige you to include the interpellation with the Prime Minister in the agenda. Today I was publicly notified by the Prime Minister of the rejection of the interpellation. You have turned the parliamentary republic into a prime ministerial republic. There is no legal and constitutional tag for the prime minister to decide the reasons and the topics of the summons in the interpellation as there is no one to refuse. This is an open constitutional violation, " Bardhi said.
