After three weeks of vacation at the government villa in Dhërmi, Prime Minister Edi Rama returned to his office in Tirana this Monday.

Photos published by Euronews Albania show the head of government dressed sporty, in black clothes, as he enters the Prime Minister's Office building.

In the coming days, the Socialist Party is expected to convene the National Assembly, where Rama will present the composition of the new government cabinet, known as "Rama 4".

It is expected with interest to see the list of names that the socialist leader will choose to lead the government during the next mandate.

The month of September marks the official start of the new parliamentary legislature in Albania, following the general elections held on May 11, 2025.

With a new composition of 140 MPs, 72 of whom are new to parliament, the new session is expected to open on September 10, marking a key moment for the country’s political and institutional life. The election results brought a new parliamentary majority, with the Socialist Party securing 83 seats, the Democratic Party with 50 seats and the rest divided between smaller parties such as the Social Democratic Party, the Opportunity Party, the Together Movement and the “Albania Becomes” Initiative.

Within 10 days of the start of the legislature, Rama will submit to the Assembly the governing program and the composition of the Council of Ministers.

The officialization of the new government requires at least 71 votes. After the vote of confidence, the Constitution requires that the government take the oath before the President of the Republic. The political tradition of the left precedes this process with the National Assembly, which this year is scheduled for the last days of August. Announcements about the “Rama 4” cabinet, changes in the party and in the parliamentary group are expected at this forum.
