Prime Minister Edi Rama held a meeting with farmers in Lushnja in the village of Krutje, where he commented on the negotiation process with the European Union and the opposition's accusations of blocking them.
Rama directly opposed the statements of the Democratic Party and opposition representatives, who have linked the progress of the negotiations to the issue of former Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku and the majority's stance towards her. He stated that the process has no obstacles and that the opposition's interpretation aims to distort public perception.
In his speech, Rama used direct language towards political opponents, accusing them of contemptuous attitudes towards citizens and of returning to old political narratives.
"There is no such thing as a deadlock. You have to be evil. They are evil, contemptuous of Albanians. They consider them stupid. They remember that Albanians have only one hour left in the land of Xanun and take up arms. Albanians are much ahead of politicians and journalists. Albanians give you water on the tail of a spoon when it comes to politics ," he said.
The Prime Minister then shifted the focus to the technical aspect of the negotiations, emphasizing that the process is related to the adaptation deadlines, especially for the agricultural sector. He explained that the main discussion is on the period it takes for farmers to integrate into EU standards.
"What was blocked? Nothing was blocked, it's negotiations. The thing will happen soon. One thing that is being negotiated is how many years you will give us to let our farmers adapt. If we enter 2030 in less than 5 years, our farmers will not be able to adapt. They will have to be left with nothing. How many years will you give us? This is the negotiation. We have managed to get a promise that will certainly be signed that another 5 years of relief will be extended. It's less than 10 years, they go by quickly", said the Prime Minister.
