Prime Minister Edi Rama has returned to his diaspora tour, as he is holding a meeting with Albanians in Crete. The meeting is being held at the "Kladiddos" stadium.
At the beginning of his speech, the Prime Minister said that important Greek men originated on the Greek island, while also mentioning the current Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis. He called on Albanians living in Greece to vote for the Socialist Party in the May 11 elections.
"Finally, I was given the opportunity to come here to Crete, to the birthplace of Zeus, to the place where the Romans, Byzantines, Arabs, Venetians, Ottomans have replaced one another until in 1913 Crete joined Greece. This place where history has seen an extraordinary amount and has left a mark on many things of great importance not only for Greece and the Greek nation, but for all of Europe. Here in Crete, Zeus kidnapped the princess, who he then took somewhere else and in the meantime her name was Europe and from here Europe got its name. That is why Crete is considered the cradle of European civilization. Many people who have given a lot to Greece but also to the whole of Europe and world culture have been born here. From the painter Doménikos Theotokópoulos to Nikos Kazantzakis, the legendary writer of Greece, and important statesmen have also been born... to Mitsotakis, and from here the current prime minister, our friend, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, originates ," the prime minister said.
