Edi Rama has openly announced the plan to merge Radio Television Albania, admitting that he had asked all previous directors to close the institution. According to critics, behind this scenario lies not reform, but interest in the RTSH land, with the aim of paving the way for the construction of towers. The appointment of Eni Vasili is seen as the final link in this operation, while opponents of this plan consider the issue as a direct clash with the Constitution, the law on public media and the public interest itself.
Edi Rama has publicly ordered the total closure of the only public media institution with mass distribution, namely Albanian Radio Television.
In an informal meeting with RTSH employees, the Albanian prime minister revealed for the first time his plan for the national information house since coming to power.
Rama said that he had asked all the directors who have led this institution to close down the Public Radio Television, but according to him they failed to do so. It was in this very sentence that he exposed the farce that has been used throughout all these years to elect the heads of RTSH, supposedly through a complicated process of application, candidacy and then voting by the Steering Council.
In reality, everything was decided from above, by verbal and political orders. But, it seems, the appointed directors were unable to swallow a disaster as big as the merger of the only public television station.
So they also took revenge on the prime minister. Someone ended up in prison, someone was dismissed with ceremony and shame, while someone else, as Rama himself said, “went in an unknown direction” or left this world. It was clear that he was referring to Thoma Gëllçi, Leka Bungo and Alfred Peza.
Eni Vasili, the director elected with an ad hoc ceremony, after the immediate dissolution of the entire Board of Directors and her reappointment, is the last chance for Edi Rama. As he himself said, in other words, "I will become director". So, in political translation, if she does not do it, I will dissolve it myself by government decision or political order.
With sadistic calm, Edi Rama asked Eni Vasili to take almost all the employees of Albanian Radio Television home and keep only the orchestra, to which he promised a selective salary increase.
All this behavior by the Prime Minister of Albania is a serious and visible act. This is a flagrant violation of the Constitution of the Republic, a violation of the law on RTSH, an infringement of the sovereignty of constitutional powers and, in essence, a high-level abuse of power.
The state is not a wish list of its officials, but a relationship that is regulated by the Constitution and laws.
If the majority wants to close down RTSH, it should do so by law in the Assembly and not by making Edi Rama, his deputies, or his serviles suffer for flagrant criminal acts committed by the head of government.
This Edi Rama scandal is a shame not only for the majority, but also for the entire circle that supports him, even though their boss has already crossed every line.
This is precisely the case for the opposition and all those who oppose the closure of RTSH to start a real battle, suing the usurper, who is not doing this because he is worried about Albanian television. As he himself has said, he never sees it. His worry is the land, because he needs it to build towers.
The order to Eni Vasili to dismiss employees, paying them their salaries while they stay home, is a clear signal that the building is intended to be abandoned. As a result, Eni Vasili will move the offices to another location that Rama will designate.
While the current building will be sacrificed for construction, as happened with the historic building of the Albanian Telegraphic Agency near the Court of Appeal, on "Jeanne D'Ark" Street.
Meanwhile, judges today are crowded into inadequate environments, where justice workers and defendants are kept in the same overcrowded spaces. The consequences of this institutional degradation have also been seen in serious events, such as the murder of Judge Astrit Kalaja.
The historic ATSH building, built by the Chinese, has been approved as a site for a tower. The same fate is being prepared for RTSH under the formal leadership of Eni Vasili and under the real orders of Edi Rama.
This next madness of the prime minister should be the moment to stop it once and for all, turning the defense of RTSH into a decisive battle to remove Edi Rama as soon as possible./ Pamphlet
