Albania ranks as one of the main countries in the transit of heroin and cocaine according to the report recently published by the United Nations Office against Drugs and Crime.
The deputy of the Democratic Party, Jorida Tabaku, reacted after the publication of this report and states that this transit has affected supply chains, quality and reduced prices, thus affecting the increase in consumption.
Tabaku opposes the legalization of cannabis, adding that the control of the territory has failed regarding this issue, since the country is being used as a transit.
"Albania is the main country in drug transit according to the UN report; transit route and gateway that has affected supply chains, quality and reduced prices, influencing consumption growth.
Is it time and moment to discuss the legalization of cannabis when it has clearly failed to control the territory? Can the production of cannabis for medical purposes be controlled when the country is currently used as a transit? What is the need for this law when today Albania has other priorities?!", she writes.
