The government has yet to make a decision on forcing students to work in their homeland before leaving. The two ministers, Ogerta Manastirliu and Evis Kushi, issued a statement to the media after the government meeting to announce the decisions.

Journalists asked him about the medical students' protest.

The Minister of Education, Kushi said that if measures are not taken now, there is a risk that in a few years we will not meet the needs for doctors. The draft law that is being discussed will also be extended to other universities.

"For this decision, other representatives from society should also give opinions and suggestions so that we can make the right decision. We have proposed that not only first-year students, but also those who are, others.

But the proposal we received is the decision to be different for different years. Progression until they have started and otherwise it is the first year student and otherwise those who may be in the fifth or sixth year.

But we think that everyone has the obligation to contribute to Albania. If we don't have to be, within a few years we won't be able to meet the needs for doctors," she said.

While the Minister of Health, Ogerta Manastirliu said that the department that she leads is discussing with medical students, lecturers and the rectorate about the project put up for discussion that students who finish medicine and leave Albania pay a higher fee for the studies they have followed.

"We have undertaken a consultation process with medical students, the minister of education, the rector, the dean and lecturers to create the best basis for discussions. When we have a decision to present it, this will be the place where you will get to know it," Manastirliu said.

What are students looking for?

A few days ago, the medical students protested, as the government in the first draft that is being consulted foresees that the moment they leave the university they will work for three years in Albania.

If they want to leave as soon as they finish school, they have to pay a fee of almost 5,000 euros per year, from 45,000 lek which is now for medicine.
