Taulant Balla, chairman of the Socialist Parliamentary Group, has issued another warning to Sali Berisha's Democrats, to participate in the Special Commissions for Electoral and Territorial Reform, as otherwise steps will be taken to unblock the situation.
The Socialists have proposed changing the committee's leadership formula with co-chairs, as requested by the majority in the Territorial Committee.
Balla today asked the DP to reflect, to participate in the commission that has started work on one of the essential reforms, the Territorial one, on which the 2027 elections will be organized.
"I am not the type of person who makes ultimatums, but I have made a request to the DP group to reflect on the obligation to implement the Assembly's decision to establish the Territorial Commission."
We have agreed to establish a commission under the principle of co-leadership and equality. Each letter requires two signatures from the co-chairs. 3 months since the establishment of the commission, the DP deputies are not allowed by the leadership to participate in the meetings.
"I believe that today at the committee meeting, not only will opposition MPs be present but they will also take on tasks so that tomorrow at the Assembly session we are not forced to establish mechanisms to unblock the situation. I hope for reflection, but if there is no such thing, Albania is forced to undergo an expanded Electoral Reform," said Balla.
