The General Secretary of DP, Enkelejd Alibeaj, has spoken about the Electoral Reform Commission, his attitude towards the Deputies of the Reestablishment as well as towards the justice system.
Asked about the developments in the Electoral Reform Commission, Alibeaj stated that:
" DP has requested electoral reform for the interest of Albanians, changes should be made to the electoral code.
But not only the electoral code, will bring free and regular elections, the issue is the political will of the majority, which can destroy or fix them.
This time there are some additional reasons, they are the ODHIR recommendations, which have been repeated such as the buying and selling of votes, the use of the administration, the state budget, but there are also the three decisions of the Constitutional Court that have struck the electoral code of 2022 and have created legal vacuums, which without being filled, practically does not make a choice.
The GJK has said that every Albanian inside or outside has the right to vote, and this right must be guaranteed by the Albanian state. If we were in a situation where the diaspora would not be guaranteed the right to vote, with simple calculations it is estimated that there are 1.4 or 1.5 voters in Albania. So almost half of the Albanians have not been given the right and if half do not participate, the elections are not legitimate or not valid. Regarding the former, the Constitutional Court has abolished it. The CJK determines how the mandates should be distributed and it is necessary to fill this gap and we have offered our solution, which is the open lists".
Regarding the representatives of the opposition in the Electoral Reform Commission, Alibeaj said that contrary to what is thought, the opposition has its representatives, and the re-establishment has more representatives of the official DP.
"The Electoral Reform Commission was created between political parties, because elections are a process of competition between political parties. Parliamentary parties like PL have their own representatives, just like PDIU or PR. As far as the opposition is concerned, there are only two members of the official DP line, for PL it is Vasili, for PDIU it is Idrizi, for PR it is Mediu, for Reestablishment there are more than PD, as there are three members and there is even a fourth member, the country of Mrs. Duma. The ratios are 2: 4: 1:1: 1. It's a fair representation for anyone . "
Regarding the Justice Reform, Alibeaj says that PD supports the Justice system.
" I believe that the fairest attitude towards the Justice System is the one we have already received, support, trust and acceptance or submission after no comment to SPAK's activity.
All the prime minister's outbursts while attacking SPAK, for example, why does SPAK attack only the left, this is the most open attack that you can make politically to a prosecutor, Re-establishment blackmails prosecutors by name with last name, the only correct attitude this is ours, we leave it free and support it for the demands. Of course there is always room for improvement. But today it gave a product, today we have a former deputy. Accused Prime Minister and a former Prime Minister, but also in organized crime has given signs of serious activity. So politics should not set obstacles .
Regarding the 2025 elections, Alibeaj said that he has the chances to win:
" The polls show a decrease in the popular vote and in the 2023 elections there is a decrease, so it does not get half of those who vote. This gives a simple data on which projects for the future can be built. The vast majority of Albanians who vote do not support this government. What should the opposition do? In order to optimize the vote, we should ally the Albanians by giving them a system with open lists, where the Albanians choose their own MP and find a reason to go to vote . Alibeaj said.
