The vote counting process continues in Korça, where Edi Rama's Socialists have a clear advantage in the ballot boxes counted so far.
After the completion of the counting process in Pustec, the political leader of the SP in Korça, Niko Peleshi, expressed optimism that this party can move towards its 7th mandate, out of 10 that the region has.
"It is exciting, because not only is it the first municipality to close and undoubtedly with a victory for the SP, but the result is very deep, almost 70 to 30, so 70 percent SP and 30 percent our opponents. Exciting also for another fact, which is a minority municipality, and I am humbled by the support that the minority of North Macedonia has given us. Vasil Sterjovski is our candidate from this community. It is a positive omen. Even in the other boxes that have been opened, like in Devoll, we are winning with 42 votes at the moment, in a difficult municipality for us. Yes, it seems, we will win in Devoll as well. The first boxes have also been opened in Bilisht, where we were 100 votes ahead. We also have very deep results in Kolonjë, where one box was 118 to 7. So, we will have a guaranteed victory and our objectives will certainly be achieved", said Peleshi.
Peleshi also addressed the impasse over the counting of diaspora votes, calling for this process to be unblocked.
"I said that we have an optimal objective, which is 6 to 4 in favor of the SP, but we are aiming for 7 to 3, and with this trend it seems that we are heading there. I am very sorry for the incident in Pogradec and I want to describe it as an incident by an individual and not by a party. But let's forget it and let justice be dealt with. I am following with concern the distance and blocking of the counting of the diaspora. It would be an insult if politics were to block the counting of the votes of our compatriots in Greece. Calls for non-counting against the commissioners should not be made, as the commissioners will violate the law if they do not count the votes," said Peleshi.
