Socialist Party MP Erion Braçe spoke about the results of May 11 and the overwhelming victory of the Socialist Party with 83 seats.
This 'power' that Albanians gave to the Socialist Party led by Edi Rama should be a signal for Braça to change drastically.
According to him, the recount process is being carried out without any kind of proof. Braçe also stated that the DP is following the institutional path for its claims, but is careful to underline that in the end it must recognize the public decision of these institutions.
"In 2009, I was leading the SP electoral campaign in Berat. I lost my fifth mandate in Berat, it is no surprise that the SP won two consecutive 5 mandates in Berat. I lost by 40 votes compared to the PD and 38 to the LSI. The code then did not have the provisions for recounts that it has today. Berat at that time became an example that was worth all of Albania to open their eyes and see what had happened during the recount process. In Berat, on the last night before the vote recount process was closed, the lights were cut off in the Palace of Culture where the votes of the Berat municipality were being counted. We thought that the palace was empty and in the morning the result changed. I requested a recount because there was a 40 vote and 38 vote difference. The gentleman behind you brought the news and said that all of Albania could be opened, only Berat could not. I was clear about what had happened, because of the movement that followed The 2009 elections, today the votes are automatically recounted.
Without any kind of evidence, demonstrations, protests, hunger strikes. These are within their right to demand a recount. This shows that we are not them, we are different. Here we are because of the sacrifices made by the socialists, they did not enter the assembly, they protested, they went on a hunger strike and in the end we got the changes in the code that they are exploiting. Tirana is being recounted because the code states that the two members of the KAS lead to a recount. Fier is being recounted without any evidence, there is no evidence in Fier, they have claims, but no evidence. In Fier, it is not the DP that has demanded a recount. There is another one who said before the elections that he would get 71 mandates, after the elections he has 1 mandate and says that 70 mandates were stolen from me. How can they be stolen, only a magician like his work can conceive of it , "said Braçe.
In an interview with "Report TV", Braçe addressed a question to his political opponents. Ironically, Braçe asks what will the DP look like when the recounted votes confirm the same number of mandates?
"The question I have is, if after the recount all these mandates are confirmed, will all of them still have faces? If the votes come out with those human errors, which are natural when you spend a week recounting, come out the same and confirm the same number of mandates, what will they say?", emphasizes Braçe.
The SP is expected to launch an internal analysis after the elections, while Braçe said that they have already started work on the next local elections in 2025.
