Ambassador Velaj meets the coordinator of the Mauthausen Committee: Let's not forget crimes against humanity!

The Ambassador of the Republic of Albania to Austria, Fate Velaj, hosted in a meeting Prof. Wolfgang Bandion, international coordinator of the Mauthausen Committee, an organization that works to prevent the forgetting of crimes against humanity committed by the Nazis at the concentration camp in Mauthausen, Austria.

During the conversation, the possibility of revitalizing contacts between this organization and Albania, which were interrupted after the passing of Mr. Hilmi Bani, former Chairman of the organization for Albania, was discussed.

Ambassador Velaj expressed his commitment to furthering this cooperation, as he had done in 2005, when he contributed to establishing relations between Albania and the International Mauthausen Committee.

He underlined that 437 people from Albania lost their lives in the Mauthausen camp, including his paternal uncle, and stressed the importance of preserving historical memory to honor them and educate younger generations.
