EU-Western Balkans Summit in Tirana/Rama: The region must leave behind

The leaders of the Western Balkans have gathered in Tirana for the EU-Western Balkans summit.

In his speech at the start of the summit, Prime Minister Edi Rama called to leave behind the divisions of the past and move forward.

The head of government said that bilateral issues should be resolved through dialogue between the two sides and not interfere with multilateral cooperation.

He said that only, all the countries of the region are small.

"Improving our relations by encouraging cooperation between the 6 countries of the Western Balkans. The new EU growth plan itself is an encouraging result. I could not be more grateful to President Ursula Von Der Leyen of Varheley and their willingness to listen to our concerns.

It is very clear to me that the new opportunity that this out-of-the-box plan represents is not only recognition by the EU of our efforts to build a common effort but also challenges us to our readiness for the fate of the EU. We must engage without any reservations, without any hesitation.

The countries of the region should cooperate. Bilateral issues remain, but they should be resolved through bilateral dialogue and not interfere in this multi-party cooperation," said Rama.
