The Chairman of the Parliamentary Group of the Democratic Party, Gazment Bardhi, in a reaction to today's Summit in Tirana, declared that the Berlin Process is of strategic importance for Albania and the Western Balkans.
He added that this is the reason why the Albanian government should officially announce the abandonment of the dangerous Rama-Vucic initiative for the Open Balkans.
In his reaction, Bardhi also spoke about the message of the Speaker of the Assembly, Lindita Nikolla, for guaranteeing democratic legitimacy and for inclusiveness in the European integration process of Albania.
According to him, Lindita Nikolla's speech was nothing but hypocrisy, since according to him, inclusiveness does not mean exclusion from the assembly and denial of the constitutional rights of the opposition.
Gazment Bardhi's full response:
The Parliamentary Group of the Democratic Party considers the Berlin Process of strategic importance for Albania and the Western Balkans. Therefore, the Albanian government must officially announce the abandonment of the dangerous Rama-Vučić initiative for the Open Balkans. The Berlin process should be the only official line in building regional and European relations. The DP Parliamentary Group and the opposition unconditionally support European integration as the absolute national priority. We support any reform that advances Albania's EU membership and, in 33 years, we have shown that we are the party that has put national interest before political interest.
However, unfortunately the Summit of the Berlin Process found Albania with the most corrupt Government in Europe and with a Parliament-notary of the corrupt acts of the prime minister that, with the force of cardboard, has closed any institutional space for the opposition. There is nothing sincere in today's statement of the Speaker of the Assembly "for guaranteeing democratic legitimacy and for inclusiveness in the European integration process of Albania". At the very least, this is hypocrisy!
Inclusion is not ensured by excluding the opposition!
Inclusiveness is not ensured by denying the opposition constitutional rights.
Inclusiveness is not ensured by dropping demands for parliamentary scrutiny through Commissions of Inquiry.
Inclusion is not ensured by blocking the opposition's right to participate in the Electoral Reform.
Inclusion is not ensured by arbitrarily excluding the opposition and closing off any institutional space.
None of this is comprehensive, but a clear attempt by the ruling party to eliminate the opposition and political pluralism in Albania!
