Today in Tirana, the summit of the countries of the Western Balkans is taking place on the economic growth plan of the European Union for the region.
In his speech, Prime Minister Edi Rama said that everyone in the Balkans must be in one important voice to meet the conditions for receiving funds.
"Either we will do it together or we will fail together. Either we make peace to work for our prosperity or we will lose this peace. We must be together not to miss this window of opportunity. Alone we are small and our importance is almost negligible. But how can we become freer and bigger.
Isn't it clear yet that there is no short cut in this journey and free lunch in the EU. Respecting the right is a condition to benefit. There are a number of conditions that must be met to receive the funds. In Tirana we need a new wave of reforms. There should be joint efforts to renew, we must meet the common tariff area.
This will reduce six times the cost of all business transactions with EU countries and by doing this we can save nearly half a billion Euros in the citizens' pockets. Our ambition is to be ready in June. Only if we reduce the waiting time of our trucks with the EU and the Balkan countries by only three hours, we can get an increase of 25 billion euros." he said.
