The more time passes, the clearer it becomes that the Rama-Dumani duo played a tango together to destroy Erion Veliaj, ousting him from the position of mayor of Tirana and imprisoning him in the detention cells in Durrës.
Lapsi.al has previously pointed out this SPAK-PS synchronization, it is enough to see the downward trajectory of Erion Veliaj in the structures of the Socialist Party, who until the end of 2023 enjoyed immense financial and political power as Edi Rama's darling, but then an unpredictable storm began for him, which started with some jokes by the chairman at the meetings of the SP Assembly and continued with other signals of exclusion, such as the retouching of public photos, replacement by the SP structures of Tirana, etc.
In parallel with this process of political isolation in the Socialist Party, SPAK had begun verifications of the Veliaj family's expenses thanks to an anonymous denunciation, which was taken seriously and was followed by checks of phones, offices and homes, which were followed by calls to SPAK and the final arrest at the municipality office on February 10.
No matter how much Veliaj did his best to rally the Socialist Party and the Municipality of Tirana to his defense, it was Rama who thwarted him by stopping the pressure on prosecutors and personally intervening to wrest the municipality from Veliaj's hands and censuring even those few supporters of Lali in the party.
And now that the Veliaj legacy in the Tirana municipality and in the Socialist Party has been completely eliminated, Rama has seen fit to deal the final blow to Veliaj, to close his case once and for all. And for this, the head of SPAK, Altin Dumani, who, together with Ols Dado, has the Tirana mayor's file in his hands, has once again served him.
A few days ago, Rama was asked on Opinion whether Erion Veliaj will continue as mayor of Tirana and he replied that "I don't know that." As for the possibility of early elections in Tirana, he repeated again, "I don't know, I have asked to see a number of opinions to understand how the situation should be handled."
As if to clarify, Altin Dumani responded, who 24 hours before the assembly, sent Veliaj's file to court, paving the way for the mayor's dismissal.
This coordination between Rama and Dumani, within just a few hours, has become so open that it no longer leaves any doubt about who is hiding behind Nesti Angoni, who made the first denunciation of Erion Veliaj, and how it happened that an anonymous grocery letter to the mayor of Tirana turned into an investigation that led him to prison, burying his political career once and for all./Lapsi.al
