Activist Evi Kokalari, one of the people who supported Sali Berisha in the beginning in the struggle to take over the leadership of the Democratic Party, but today she is one of the most critical people of the former prime minister. Invited to the show 'Real Story' with journalist Sokol Balla, Kokalari tells why she supported Sali Berisha.
" The motivation was that the attack on him was to destroy the opposition in Albania. When I decided to follow the invitation to Foltore, I thought it would be a good idea to lend a hand. I was unhappy with Lulzim Basha. I had been saying for some time before the elections that I didn't think he was campaigning properly, when Berisha became non grata I thought it was an attack on the opposition because I saw Berisha as a person who was running away from politics because of his age," said Kokalari . .
Kokalari also shows the reasons why she distanced herself from Berisha, that according to her, he promised primaries, but did not guarantee a free vote.
" When you promise the Primary and do not guarantee the vote, here we go to the strong power they have. There is nothing more undemocratic than closed lists ," said Kokalari.
Asked if Berisha is a problem for the Democratic Party, she says it might be when she looks back and sees that after 32 years the party is at this point. As for Basha, Kokalari says that his figure has worn out in the 8 years he has been the head of the party. The fight between Berisha and Basha is said to have divided PD based on their personal interests.
" You can when you go and go back in time 32 years and think how it went and why we are at this point after 32 years. The fact that Basha returned shows that he has deep problems. War that was created and isolated between Basha and Berisha. It seems as if the entire DP is divided on the basis of personal grudges and on the basis of defeats that are their own fault. Basha may have worn out in the last 8 years that he has been in the PD part ," she said.
