Former Democratic Party MP Arben Ristani clarified the statement of Democratic Party leader Sali Berisha that when the DP comes to power he will dissolve SPAK.
Ristani said that if it is proven that the Special Prosecution Office is politically influenced by the majority, "of course that institution needs to change."
" An institution has been built, but it is only one of the links, we have SPAK and GJJKO while the justice that Albanians need is the one that was left without a Supreme and Constitutional Court for 4 years. This country is not finding the courage to find justice. This prime minister has dictated not to leave this special mechanism independent and from the way he acted he has not maintained impartiality, before arresting Veliaj he also arrested former president Meta, the way in which the one and the other were arrested is not at all equal. The attack on SPAK is to be welcomed but there are problems that have to do with monstrous thefts like incinerators, what is sold to the public based on jewelry, perhaps this is done to discredit them. I believe that politics should not interfere with SPAK and use it as a tool. Serious Crimes used to have a large number of life sentences, from this SPAK until today I don't know of any life sentence. If we prove that they are politically influenced by the majority, of course that institution needs to change. It's about dissolving if they behave like a gang following the orders of politics ," Ristani said on the Now show on Euronews Albania.
