How Berisha destroyed the DP: Tabaku-Alimehmeti 'fight' for survival,
The situation where the DP collapsed

Alimehmeti and Tabaku are victims of a system that does not tolerate individuals with independent thought or civic support. They are forced to fight among themselves for 'survival', while safe places are given as a gift from the "non grata" to obedient soldiers.

The Democratic Party emerged exhausted from these elections, securing only 50 mandates at the national level, a devastating result for the largest opposition party.

But the biggest drama is happening in its heart, in Tirana, where the DP once filled Parliament with its best figures. Today, in the capital, it is reduced to 13 mandates, 12 of which are obtained by the closed list and only 1 by individual votes.

The irony is that right there, for that one seat that the citizen decides, two of the most respected figures of the DP are clashing: Ilir Alimehmeti and Jorida Tabaku. A respected doctor in the academic and health world, who came to politics with a clear civic profile. And an iconic MP, prepared and known for her contribution to parliamentary committees and the economy. Both left out of the safe list. Both kicked out by Berisha.

Because Sali Berisha, instead of reviving the party with new faces and integrity, turned the list into a nostalgic catalog, putting in the front row the people most loyal to him, not the most trustworthy for the citizens.

Flamur Noka , the permanent name of tensions, unidentifiable with any real contribution other than loud voices and arguments in Parliament.

Jozefina Topalli , returned as a figure from the past with no offer for today.

Albana Vokshi , focused more on television aggression than on politics.

Edi Paloka , another emblem of personal loyalty to Berisha, with zero political contribution.

The DP list was filled with worn-out voices, many of whom are simply extensions of Berisha's will. These are not competing for ideas, they are competing to preserve the leader's immunity and to guarantee the continuity of a clique that has taken the opposition hostage. Also, allies were rewarded with safe seats and true oppositionism was left out.

And then the Democrats complain about how citizens are still voting for Rama? They are, because Alimehmeti and Tabaku should have been on the closed list and not be "fighting" among themselves today. Both deserve a seat in Parliament and because of Saliu, one will be out. To avoid the worst case scenario that if the diaspora changes the result in Tirana, both could end up without a mandate.

Another indicator is that the vote for Alimehmet and Tabaku is a revolt against Sali Berisha's list. The fact that they are both voted for shows that the Democrats do not approve of the list of scumbags that Berisha is introducing into Parliament.

Alimehmeti and Tabaku are victims of a system that does not tolerate individuals with independent thought or civic support. They are forced to fight among themselves for 'survival', while safe places are given as a gift from the "non grata" to obedient soldiers.

In this political farce, not only is an opposition being destroyed - the idea of a modern and European right is also being destroyed. And the fault is not the electorate, the fault is that of those who, for personal interests, turned the DP into a party of bones and nostalgia. /Pamphlet
