Edlira Dyrmishaj is running for MP on the Socialist Party's open list in the May 11 elections. Dyrmishaj is running on the open list for Tirana, and she is a practicing Muslim.
From the 'Off the Record' studio on A2 CNN, Dyrmishaj spoke about a photograph of Prime Minister Edi Rama several years ago, where he appears stepping on the carpet of a Muslim believer while the latter was praying.
Dyrmishaj said that Edi Rama has changed his stance on Islam, and even quotes some of the prime minister's own words, but also the fact that he has included an intern in the lists of candidates for MP.
" The fact that you mentioned a photo of Rama stepping on the carpet of a praying believer... was about 12 or 15 years ago. Einstein says only the insane do not change."
It's a fact, but it was 20 years ago. After 20 years, this gentleman is saying this lady who is a practicing believer, I want her on my electoral lists.
I am very honored to be on open lists, because if I were on closed lists I would be read as a militant.
Rama said, "I was the person who had this negative idea about Islam and Muslims, and I vomited this when I went to Kuwait and saw the model of Islam there ," Dyrmishaj said.
