Another variant being discussed in the corridors of the blue headquarters is that everyone, including political leaders, are subject to the primaries, but the safe list, in what is considered a closed list, regardless of the result of the primaries, will include the most vocal representatives of all groups, including the leaders of the parties that will agree to be in the coalition led by Berisha.
Sali Berisha, leader of the Democratic Party of Albania, has announced that the primaries, i.e. the voting by the membership for candidates for deputies in the May 11 elections, will be held.
Berisha's position contradicts the request or position made by Gazment Bardhi, head of the DP Parliamentary Group, who considers it a process that could restore the division among the democrats.
Clearly, Bardhi's group in the DP, which joined forces with Berisha's, seems to view the primary process as a trap, where members can eliminate many of those who, silently or not, are considered hidden 'enemies' of the democratic leader.
And given the history and developments in the DP, whenever Berisha has wanted to remove names or figures from the party, he has used members, not those at the grassroots level, but those at the forums. It seems that the same story will happen with the primaries that he is insisting on holding, but perhaps with a compromise, so that those who are leaders in the regions, those who will lead the campaign at the national level and the political leader of the Diaspora, Jozefina Topalli, are not included in the membership vote.
This is said to be the compromise that, in the name of unity in diversity, Berisha will bring closer to Gazment Bardhi, who, together with Agron Gjekmarkaj, are political leaders, one in Fier and the other in Lezha.
The others will submit to the primaries and this would give Berisha the green light to, with the strength of the members, create a compact group of deputies, obedient and grateful to him.
This way, regardless of the result on May 11 and the number of lawmakers the DP will have, the vast majority of them will be loyalists, who will obey him and will not create headaches for Berisha.
This is one of the scenarios, if the leader of the Democratic Party goes all the way to holding the primaries.
This scenario means that the results of the primaries will be used to include any of the surprise names that may result in high membership support in the safe list, or in what is considered an open list, where the MP's mandate will be obtained based on the preferential vote.
Even in this case, Berisha gives a message to those who for almost two years he treated as his 'enemies' in the internal war in the DP, waving the results of the primaries in their faces and finally showing the 'generosity' that in the name of unity, even in diversity, they will have their names on the list.
In this way, Berisha, as a veteran player in politics, is clear that they, including members of the Bardhi group, will be grateful, will be submissive, and even more obedient after May 11, than in these months when the compilation of candidate lists is expected.
Those who today have a mandate as a member of parliament in their pocket are clear that the battle is not to have their name on the list, but to be on what is considered the safe list, or the closed list. / Pamphlet /
