In the appeal submitted to the Supreme Court, in which SPAK requests Jamarbër Malltez's return to prison, the two prosecutors of the case state that he committed corruption by cooperating with the highest official of the time.
"Specifically with former Prime Minister Sali Berisha", the two prosecutors emphasize, according to whom there is a reasonable suspicion based on evidence that the foundations of society have been violated in the highest structures.
The prosecutors add that they also take into account in this appeal the high value of the money that was allegedly laundered, the duration of the criminal activity and which, according to them, leads to the conclusion that the Court of Appeal did not respect the law when it reduced the measure from imprisonment to imprisonment house.
The two prosecutors Arben Kraja and Enkelejda Millonai who are investigating the Partizani file, tell the Supreme Court that Albania still suffers from high levels of corruption in many areas and according to them this is the reason why the Albanian government has put this war on the list of the most important priorities of its policy.
SPAK further states that the acts for which Malltezi is suspected, that of corruption and money laundering, are sanctioned and punished with prison. Even more so when, as suspected by the Prosecutors of SPAK, the acts were committed in the qualifying circumstance of cooperation.
While Jamarbër Malltezi is also suspected of money laundering, according to SPAK, this crime seriously damages a country's economy in the long term, add the two prosecutors, according to whom the financial system is also impacted. / TCH
