Democratic Party MP, Jorida Tabaku, has leveled accusations against Defense Minister, Pirro Vengu, during her speech at the plenary session, questioning the manner in which he performs his duties and his positions on the European integration process.
From the Parliament podium, Tabaku referred to Vengu's previous engagement in the Port of Durres, claiming that during that period there were serious problems, including oil smuggling and links to organized crime groups from Latin America.
According to her, these developments have negatively impacted the country's integration process into the European Union and have increased the United States' attention to the fight against organized crime in Albania.
"Mr. Minister, I remember you for many things, but you shine at the Port of Durres," Tabaku declared ironically, adding that a new minister in politics should not build his career by, according to her, "trampling" on the achievements of others.
The Democratic MP asked the minister to speak responsibly and give due institutional weight to the duty he holds, accusing him of attacking the opposition whenever it raises concerns about what she considers to be the government's blocking of the integration process.
Tabaku then stated that the minister and the government should be under investigation, calling them “the government of the defendants.” She emphasized that, even if she leaves politics, there are results that, according to her, she can look back on, while challenging Vengu by asking him what will remain after the end of his mandate.
