Trial in The Hague, Spiropali: Justice should not be blind to the reality of
Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Elisa Spiropali

The Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Elisa Spiropali, in her speech in the Assembly, focused on the relationship with Kosovo, describing it as a historical and national responsibility for Albania.

She emphasized that Albania will continue to be a strong supporter of Kosovo's rights, its international integration and the strengthening of state dignity, as, according to her, the stability of the region is closely linked to a strong Kosovo, widely recognized and integrated into Euro-Atlantic structures.

In this context, Spiropali noted the importance of the judicial processes taking place in The Hague, underlining that Albania remains committed to international justice.

"Albania is and will remain committed to international justice. But international justice is not an abstract concept. It is measured by the standard of equality, by its coherence and by the ability not to become an instrument of one-sided historical readings. The Kosovo war was not a conflict for power. It was a fight for survival and for freedom, after a long period of systematic repression. This is an internationally documented historical fact. For this reason, any judicial process related to that period must be conducted with full awareness of the context, the disproportion of force and the reality of the crimes committed against the civilian population," the minister declared.

She emphasized that the approach to these processes must be based on clear principles and a fair assessment of the historical context.
