Tabaku explodes against Xhafaj: You spent 500 thousand euros on the Special

DP MP Jorida Tabaku has responded to Socialist MP Fatmir Xhafaj in the Assembly.

Tabaku said that Xhafaj spent 500 thousand euros on the Special Commission, and it produced nothing.

" I followed Mr. Xhafaj's speech very carefully and it seemed like a speech from 2013. If you had spoken like that, we could have believed you, because today the word has lost its meaning. The Constitution and EU integration are not empty words, but issues of the day. Mr. Xhafaj, three things that have happened in these years, so as not to give you justice for your words.

First, you shined in this Parliament at the moment when an accusation was raised against Veliaj. I never expected a former prosecutor to come out here and accuse you because he was friends with Veliaj, why didn't it happen like this with the other cases? The second time was when you set up a Special Commission, which wanted to take responsibility, for these institutions to report to you. Either it reports to me or it doesn't report to this Parliament at all. This commission cost 500 thousand euros and produced nothing. The third time was when you raised the card and made a decision exactly for what you said here. A decision to move from the Prosecutor General to SPAK, for corruption by reducing it to the level of 50 thousand euros ", Tabaku emphasized in her speech.

Meanwhile, Tabaku also stated during her speech in the Assembly that the situation in the country is deteriorating. Tabaku said that corruption and money laundering are on the rise in our country.

" Albania is in the 13th year of your government and your misgovernance is visible every day. You see this by looking at the opinion of the citizens about a government that has increased oppression every day, which has paved the way for an economic and social crisis. The essence of this crisis is the corrupt system that hits the pockets of the citizens every day. The fact that we have a pair of elections accepted not by the opposition, but by the OSCE-ODIHR, which emphasized in its report that the elections did not meet the standards, as they were not free and fair.

When you see in the ODIHR report that Albania has turned into a party-state, where every institution is an extension of the state. It is not in vain that I also asked the Prosecutor General about money laundering. In the 2020 report, we have seen that money is laundered everywhere in Albania. We have seen a corrupt network that today has turned into an industry such as the construction industry. The case of '%D' is not the only case, as it has turned into a system, which is the reason why a simple Albanian, who works two jobs, has no chance of making ends meet. He spends 40-50% of his budget on the food basket. Never before has it happened like it has in these 12 years. ", Tabaku said in the Assembly.

While Xhafaj, in his reply to Tabaku, said that he did not speak in the Assembly about specific names and issues.

" For your information, I have not spoken in this hall about names and specific issues. Because I am not in your party and your party embarrassment. As for SPAK, know that it was not established in 2013 but in 2016, when the Constitution was voted on with 140 votes ," said Xhafaj.
